EFT at ICP
|
Program Description: The core skills training consists of four 2-day sessions designed to focus on each segment of the EFT process as well as the therapeutic tasks and EFT Interventions associated with each phase of treatment. The training takes place in a small group with a combination of didactic and experiential learning. Participants are encouraged to bring their own case material to the training for discussion and illustration purposes. Those participants who want credit toward EFT certification for an advanced externship must present their own work through video or audio plus transcript. The trainings are structured as follows:

Weekend 1: Steps 1 and 2: Assessment: Alliance Building and Identifying the cycle. Interventions: Empathic reflection, tracking questions, catching the bullet. |

Weekend 2 : Steps 3 and 4: Deescalating the Cycle - Interventions: Evocative Questions, Heightening, Empathic Interpretation. |

Weekend 4: Change Event: Blamer Softening: The process of blamer softening. Steps 8 and 9- Consolidation, Impasses in Therapy | Trainer: Gail Palmer, MSW Gail Palmer is one of the Founding Members of the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute, has her Masters in Social Work and is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist in Canada. Over the past 20 years, Gail has worked closely with Sue Johnson, co-creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy both at the Ottawa Hospital and in private practice. She has become an experienced trainer in EFT; currently offering core skills training to a number of therapists across Canada and the US. Gail’s particular interest is in EFT with families and she delivered the plenary address at the 2006 EFT Summit on families. She is an Approved Supervisor with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and is a family therapy professor at the School of Social Work at Carleton University in Ottawa.

This workshop will increase your knowledge and skill in helping couples and families deal with chronic illness. We will help you to work through clinical issues including:

Eva Margot Kant, LMSW. FACTS trained family and couples therapist, graduate of clinical training and graduate of the Sex Therapy Program at NYU School of Medicine. Ms. Kant has worked as a medical social worker and group facilitator in numerous medical settings.
Alessandra Strada, Ph. D. Attending Psychologist in the Department of Pain Medicine and Palliative Care at Beth Israel Medical Center. Certified both in EMDR and Guided Imagery. She is also Assistant Professor in the Department of East-West Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, in San Francisco.
